# Find MetaTrader Logs

> How to locate and view the logs for your MetaTrader 4 or MetaTrader 5 trading platform.

MetaTrader 4/5 includes extensive logging. In this guide we will cover how to locate and view the logs for your trading platform.

## Step By Step Guide

    Inside of your MT4/MT5 platform, click the **File** tab and then select **"Open Data Folder"**.

    Locate and click on the **Logs** folder.

    You will then see all of the logs available for your specific platform. Double-click on the specific log that you wish to view.

      Log files are named using the `YYYYMMDD` format (e.g., `20250325.log` for March 25, 2025).
